Patterned sun sail for Arnsdorf

We developed this sun sail for the new Arnsdorf secondary school building. The client wanted a compromise between shade and light effects that would create a special atmosphere in the school playground. The interplay of aesthetics and function in the sun sail is modeled on a canopy of leaves.

To achieve this, 40 mm wide straps were stretched in a random arrangement between the edge rope pockets. The resulting pattern creates an irregular shadow effect reminiscent of a natural canopy of leaves. Different overlaps and the deliberately uneven arrangement give the sun sail an organic look and create a lively interplay of light and shadow.
